i don’t have any wrinkles or anything, but i decided recently that i should start using some skincare products. this is my first time trying out night moisturizers and i was wondering which one would be a better choice. i’m trying to decide between clinique’s youth surge night age decelerating moisturizer or the super rescue antioxidant night moisturizer. i like that both of these have some sort of anti-aging properties, but i was wondering which one would be better as a starter. what age group is good for each moisturizer?

Is alkaline water better than purified water?

Someone is trying to sell me alkaline stick and claims that it turns tap or bottled water into alkaline water which has health benefits like being an antioxidant, frees radicals, anti-aging, etc. I don’t believe at all.

do Antioxidants help darkness under eyes?

Ok so I have dark circles under my eyes, I sleep well, eat well, not overweight, I don’t smoke, I drink occasionally but not often. I think its hereditary.
So my mom told me to use her anti-age eye cream every night which is rich in antioxidants, but it seems to be darkening the skin under my eyes, how can this happen?

don’t know why it would darken the circles under your eyes, but I can tell you from what you wrote that the solution to your problem is to drink more water.

I want to start using an anti aging system, but the problem is i don’t know which one to use? here are my choices.
*Principals secret Reclaim, apparently it has Argireline Molecular Complex and HydraMoisture Technology, it sounds good but some of the before and after photos seem to appear as if the skin has gone slightly plasticy, but only in some.
*Meaningful beauty,by cindy crawford, it has antioxidants from a rare Melon which, reduces the signs of aging and helps fight free radicals attacking collagen, iv seen the before and afters and skin looks really dewy and supple.
*in an instant, instantaneously fills in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but im not sure what the long term affects are.

I know that you age because free radicals penetrate the skin attacking collagen and therefor crating wrinkles so i know in a good skin cream you need collagen and antioxidants, and anything to stop free radicals. has anyone tryed one or all of these products? which ones are the best?
or maybey you know of a really good skin cream with collagen in it? please help as best you can im really stuck on this.

how do i test antioxidant activity on an apple slice?

i only got a few information from science buddies which was this:
Antioxidants have become very popular in the news lately for their potential health and anti-aging properties. Antioxidants work by preventing oxidation reactions that produce free-radicals which can cause harm to the body. Try testing different vitamins for antioxidant activity. How do vitamins A, B, C, and E compare? Do some vitamins have more antioxidant activity than others? What are some other sources of antioxidants? Try testing extracts from proposed sources of antioxidants like coffee, tea, tomatoes, carrots, grapes, and berries (MedlinePlus, 2006). Do nuts contain antioxidants? Does roasting or processing affect the antioxidant properties of nuts? (Hopkins and Watts, 2003) A simple way to test for antioxidant activity is to see if the reagent can keep an apple slice from browning.

I still don’t get what there asking me to do though, and is this a good project to do on the human body?

Its a crude experiment but you could mix the chemical you are interested in with water and then brush it onto the surface of a cut apple. Compare the time it takes for browning to occur with a second slice which you have brushed with water but not containing any of the "antioxidant" chemical. It is difficult to do on the human body because there wouldn’t be any quickly observable effects to monitor although probably not harmful as long as you limited the experiment to food products. Application of food to the human body is not covered under this Yahoo topic section.
