Living longer and losing weight.? Ok, well lately I have really become scared of dying at a young age. I really want to lose weight and eat healthy. I’m 18, 5,’ 9", and weigh 225. I used to eat healthy, just once I got into middle school to high school I just ate crap food. I haven’t had a fruit or veggie for years just until like last week. All I would eat is basically pasta, peanut butter sandwiches and snacks every once in a while. Good thing though, is I didn’t drink pop, I hate pop. I’m wondering what damage if any have a done and can I reverse it. Like I want to eat healthy and live past 60 kind if thing and not die at 40. I would like to know what to eat at breakfast, what meals should I do. Like what fruits and veggies should I eat and when? Also, when is it ok to have a snac like at a party or something. Something that’s just me is I can’t eat a salad or tomatoes. I’ve tried but everytime I try them, I just feel like throwing up. Something with the texture I guess. For the past 2 weeks I have been eating apples, bananas, drinking only water, and eating bologna and cheese on wheat bread. Is this good?
And youv’e made a good start in not drinking pop/soda. But you obviously haven’t been eating well to be the size you are now. Pizza? Ice Cream? Or just a series of bad foods over and over? Eat 3 balanced meals a day, balanced on the food group pyramid, obviously with more fruits and vegetables than anything. And more vegetables than fruits. You can eat as much of these as you wish as long as you eat more veggies than fruits. Fruits have some sugar in them, but they are natural sugars and not processed, Once you start on a good work out schedule you can go back to having some of those pastas you love, but first you will have to give them up, for the most part, until you can completely clean out your system and start anew.
But at some point you will most likely have to overcome your distaste for salads. Tomatoes I used to hate, but then I realized how good they were for me and I have learned to love them.
And besides eating a balanced diet you need to start doing cardiovascular activity 4-5 times per week. A minimum of 30 minutes per day to start with. After you get going you can up your cardiovascular time as well as combining it with strength techniques like weightlifting.
So exercise and a balanced diet. Easier said than done. And don’t fall for all the crap people will try to sell you to make you better, faster. Do it the old fashioned way. It will last longer. References :

You are young enough to turn things around now.
